Carl T. Russell, of San Antonio, passed away on August 7, 2021 in Kerrville, TX.  He was born in Barren County, KY to Ruel and Zulah Russell on October 2, 1936. He married his high school sweetheart, Betty, and shortly after joined the Air Force and moved to San Antonio. While serving, he and Betty had two daughters, Jackie and Lisa. After his stint he moved into the private sector and his last work years were selling cars. He retired from Jennings Anderson Ford in Boerne.

He enjoyed spending time with his family on the local lakes and was an avid water skier. He also played a mean game of golf and played on many courses in the Texas Hill Country.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Elaine Polson, and niece, Bonnie Dockery.

Survivors include wife, Betty, daughters, Jackie and husband Jeffrey Markgraf, and Lisa Russell, two grandchildren, Jared and Jessica Markgraf, and two great-grandchildren, Jordyn Joy and Graeme Markgraf, nieces, Lori Polson and Connie Lykins, nephews, Thomas Polson and Joseph Polson, their families and Bonnie’s family.

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 13th, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville. A second visitation will be held on August 21st  at Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home in Glasgow, KY at 9:00am followed by the burial in Happy Valley Memorial Park at 11:00am.

    He was a much loved uncle who enjoyed life. He will be missed by all. Deepest condolences to Betty , Jackie & Lisa. I will cherish all the memories we made growing up in the country. Blessed to have had him in our lives.

    Many fond memories staying with Uncle Bud & Aunt Betty in Louisville and the many trips to the country. We spent a lot of time talking sports and his beloved Kentucky Wildcats. He was a great family man who will be sorely missed by all. Betty, Jackie & Lisa are in our thoughts and prayers.
