Ann Greer

Ann Greer, 80, passed away peacefully with family at her side on November 10, 2023 at Glenview Nursing Home in Glasgow, Ky. She was the 3rd child and youngest daughter of the late Maurice Douglas Burton and Helena Mary Burton.  Ann was born on December 31, 1942 in Bowling Green, Ky.

She married Charles Billy Greer in 1960 and had 3 children: Doug Greer, Patrick Greer and Laura Greer. She worked as a homemaker, baby sitter and later a state ombudsman advocating for nursing home residents. Since she was a child she loved collecting dolls and had them all over the house. She loved animals, especially cats, and gave several a wonderful life. She taught her kids to observe and learn about whatever creature came around whether it be a stray dog, spider or snake.

Ann is survived by her husband Billy Greer and all three children: Doug Greer (Sarah), Patrick Greer and Laura Greer, two grandchildren: Andrew Gerber and Josh Greer (Gabbie) and 6 great grandchildren: Matthew, Logan, Nathan, Haley, Leah, and Mabel, a nephew, Billy Martin, and a niece, Tanya Lindsey. She would have also wanted her extended children mentioned: Leigh Hagan, Brandi Hamilton, Kelly Bass, Eric Bruton, and Roger Lawrence, and wonderful neighbors: Sharon and Harold Denham and Brent and Diane Feenstra.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 siblings: Connie Brite and Doug Burton, and a nephew, Danny Burton.

Ann wished to be cremated. Visitation will be 3:00-7:00pm on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Hatcher and Saddler funeral home.

    Sorry for your loss.
May our Lord Jesus Christ comfort you in this difficult time.
Maybe this poem will help you understand the big picture.

    Time No More
In God, I was of his Love, fully known.
    Heart not yet beating,
surrounded by his Glory warming my face.
As he thought of me I appeared to myself,
as if to form from nothing at all.
    I am Spirit that way,
now I am flesh that way.
From nothing at all, dust and breath.
Given time I learn my way.
With quickening beats and glowing face,
his thoughts appear to myself again.
In Spirit that way born again,
now I am flesh that way, shaped by his Spirit.
The rest of my days he teaches my ways.
With weakening beats and dimming glow.
He returns me to be nothing at all.
And now no need of that beating heart.
For I become a part of his Eternal Love.
    Just as I first began.
