Jean Young

          Eleanor Jean Young, 92, Glasgow, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2023 at the T J Samson Community Hospital.  A native of Barren County, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Christine Watkins Culver.

          Early in her career, Jean was a switchboard operator for the telephone company and later became a stay-at-home Mom.  She then continued her lifelong career as a homemaker while being an accomplished seamstress.

          She is survived by two daughters: Rita Tew and her husband Ray of Atlanta, and Marla Fuller and her husband Robert of Franklin, KY; four grandchildren: Paul Tew (Morgan), John Tew (Eileen), Charlie Tew (Annette), and Sarah Fuller Dinwiddie (Lee Ross Dinwiddie); six great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.

          In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Charles Marvin Young; and her sister, Mary Jo Hughes.

          Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Happy Valley Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be after 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

The family wishes to extend a special recognition and thanks to her caregivers Diana Jones, Sharon Cartmill, Carla Scott, and Tara Glass for the excellent care given to Jean.

    I attended church with Marvin and Jean at Refuge since 1993, when my father began preaching there. I am so sad to hear of this sweet lady’s passing. She was truly a precious person. The family has my deepest condolences.
