Delsie Arnold

Delsie Virginia Arnold, age 96, Springfield, MO, passed away at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2022 from complications with dementia.  Mrs. Arnold had moved to Turners Rock Independent Living complex in early 2021, but her health quickly declined and she moved into the Memory Care unit where she remained a resident until her death.

Mrs. Arnold was known and admired for the amazing hand crafts she had done all her life: paper elevation pictures, painting on wood crafts, needlepoint, sewing of all kinds including clothing and straw hats for Barbie Dolls, and Fabrege type decorated eggs from real eggs. She also loved flowers and was a master gardener, at one time showcasing 100 different types of irises and lilies in her gardens.  She and her husband Max were fortunate enough to vacation in 5 of the 7 continents and to more than a dozen islands around the world.

She was born one of seven children of Lucy and Arthur Pedigo of Glasgow, KY.  Parents and four brothers, Ray, Max, Howard and Wally Pedigo and two sisters, Gladys Berry and Tessie Mae Wheatley, have preceded her in death.  Surviving is a large circle of nephews and nieces, their families, and their families.

She is also preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Max Arnold.  She is survived by her only child, daughter Virginia Hoskins Clark of Springfield, and grandson Brian Hoskins (wife Anna) and grandson Greg Hoskins and great-grandson Evan (Greg’s wife Crissie and daughters Izzy and Hollan), all from Boise, ID.

Mrs. Arnold’s visitation will be from 10-11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, with a funeral to follow at 11:00 a.m., with Gene Gwennap officiating. Graveside services will be 1:00 pm Monday, December 19, 2022, when Mrs. Arnold will be laid to rest alongside her husband in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Randolph, KY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Phoenix Home Care and Hospice, 1839 East Independence St., Suite K, Springfield, MO 65804
