Betty J. Hardin Claywell, 89, Summer Shade, passed away Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at her residence. A native of Barren County, she was the daughter of the late Alton and Nora Wheeler Hardin. She was a homemaker and an avid square-dancer. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include her husband of 71 years William R. Claywell; two children: Deborah Farley and Michael Claywell; three grandchildren: Karen Bartley, Lindsay Viehmann, and Kyle Claywell; two great-grandchildren: Austin Willis and Allie Jeffries; two great-great-grandchildren: Skylar Willis and Lyla Vickers; one brother, Larry Hardin; two sisters: Patty Schroerlucke and Connie Hart; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Kevin Bartley; one brother, Joe Grant Hardin; and one sister, Judy Workman.

Graveside services were held 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 12, 2021 at the Union #2 Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.
