Edward N. Albany

          Edward N. Albany, 79, Glasgow, died Sunday, February 06, 2005, at his residence.  A native of Barren County, he was a son of the late Geneva Smith and Edward N. Albany, Sr.  He was a retired land surveyor.  During WWII, he served with the United States Navy as a signalman; during which he was deployed to Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima. 

          Ed was very active with establishing and being involved with the Glasgow Little League program.  He served on the Board of Directors and coached in the program for 35 years.  He was a member and former commander of Glasgow American Legion and a member and former commander of VFW Post 5906. 

          Survivors include his wife, Nelda; two sons, Al Albany and Eric Albany and wife, Terri, all of Glasgow; five grandchildren, Kim Delk, Willie Albany, Austin Albany, Kacy Albany and Eliza Albany; one sister, Mildred Albany of Glasgow; one niece, Judy Alexander of Glasgow; two special friends, Brianna Mosier and Bailey Alexander. 

          In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Annette Delk and one sister, Wilma Bacon. 

          Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 9, 2005 at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.  Friends may call after 12 noon Tuesday at the funeral home.  Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to a favorite youth sports league program.
