Wendell M. “Brownie” Brownfield, 89, long time resident of Louisville, died Monday, May 03, 2004, at the NHC Health Care Center in Glasgow, where he spent his last one and half years.

He was known as the “tire man of Louisville ” where he was associated with Hurry Up Broadway, Time Tire of Louisville, and Fleet Tire of New Albany, IN until his retirement.

For many years, he served as Chairman of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Special Deputy Committee where he did an outstanding job. He was a loyal, faithful worshipper at First Baptist Church, Shepherdsville , KY. His unfailing courtesy, his sympathy and kindly spirit endeared him to so many members.

Wendell is survived by one daughter, Linda Kay Templeton of Coquitlam , British Columbia ; two sisters, Anna Gibbs and Mary McGuire of Glasgow; two grandsons and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian; his parents, R.S. and Minnie Brownfield; and three brothers, Raymond, Eugene and Jewell “Dee” Brownfield of Glasgow .

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. (CDT) Thursday, May 6, 2004, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home, 801 North Race Street, Glasgow, with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2:00 p.m. (CDT) Wednesday at the funeral home.
