Rosie Lee Peden, 87, retired registered nurse and teacher, died Friday, November 1, 2002, at the Barren County Health Care Center. Born June 10, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Charles L. and Lucinda Mansfield Peden.

A member of the First United Methodist Church of Glasgow, she was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army Nurses Corp, and a retired teacher, having been an instructor at the Glasgow School for Practical Nurses. She was a member and past officer of Glasgow Chapter # 257 Order of Eastern Star, serving as secretary for 30 years. She was a member and past officer of Glasgow Shrine, White Shrine of Jerusalem; a member of the Glasgow Past Matrons Club and Past Officers Club of the White Shrine; a member of Edmund Rogers Chapter DAR; and a member of the Armed Forces Retired Officers and Kentucky Retired Teachers Associations.

Survivors include one brother, Charles Howard Peden of Glasgow; three nephews, Charles Turvy of Chillicothe, Ohio; John Turvy of Columbus, Ohio, and Charles H. Peden of Louisville; five nieces, JoAnne Peden Smith of Horse Cave, Wanda Lee Peden of Dayton, Ohio, Sue Peden Gillespie of Glasgow, Rosalee Turvy Blake of Downers Grove, Illinois, and Susan Turvy Saunders of Cincinnati; 15 grand nephews and nieces; 1 great-great nephew.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Lucinda Peden Turvy.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Peden Family Cemetery.  Military honors will be provided by Glasgow Chapter 20 DAV.  Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the First United Methodist Church of Glasgow.
