Charles Billy Greer

    

     Charles Billy Greer, age 88, passed away at the Shanti Niketen Hospice Home in Glasgow, KY on April 11, 2024. He was the youngest of 10 children of the late Eugene Greer and Maude Jewell Underwood Greer of the Etoile community. Billy was born August 11, 1935 in Barren County, KY.

     Billy married Ann Greer in 1960 and had 3 Children: Doug Greer (Sarah), Patrick Greer and Laura Greer. Billy served one term in the Army, after basic training he was stationed at Fort Bliss in Elpaso, Texas where Ann joined him and his 1st child was born. After the military he worked as a carpenter, worked at Tyson/SKF Bearing for 33 years, known as Pop by his coworkers, and then done more part time carpentry work after retiring. He enjoyed owning his horses, and never missed the Etoile fair other than his time in the Army, but most of his free time was spent working on various projects for his family and he stayed busy well into his 80’s. He was a long time member of Temple Hill Baptist Church.

     Billy is survived by all three children, two grandchildren: Andrew Gerber and Josh Greer (Gabbie), and 6 great grandchildren: Matthew, Logan, Nathan, Haley, Leah, and Mabel who knew him as Dadah, and their grandmother Pamela Greer, along with numerous nieces and nephew. Also those just like family: Leigh Hagan, Brandi Hamilton, Kelly Bass, Eric Bruton, Roger Lawrence, and neighbors: Harold and Sharon Denham and Brent and Diane Feenstra.

     He was preceded in death by his wife; Ann, and 9 brothers and sisters; Please Sanders (John), Mary Francis (Nig), James William, Stanley Cleveland Sr. (Buck), Bessie (Bess), Tressie (Tress), Paul Edward, Emogene and William Dean.

     Billy wished to be cremated. A celebration of life will be from 2:00-6:00 pm Saturday April 20th at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.
