Eldon E. Thomas

     Eldon Elloyd Thomas, 96, Cooktown, Passed away Friday, February 9, 2024 at NHC Healthcare. He was the son of the late Willie Burr Thomas and Emma Mae Devasher Thomas.

     Eldon was saved as a young boy in a cedar thicket on the family farm in Cooktown. He joined Pleasant Point Missionary Baptist Church after being saved. He was a life long member until his passing.  His sons recalled Eldon helped lead singing as they were growing up and attending with their mother and father. Eldon had forgotten a lot of things through life but he never forgot the place God saved his soul. When asked he would point out the spot on the hillside where the cedar trees used to stand.  

     He is survived by two sons: David Thomas (Marilyn) and Bro. Kevin Thomas (Teresa). Two grandchildren; Will Ellis Thomas (Scarlett) and Casey Jane Thomas.: four great grandchildren; McKinley and Jasper Thomas, Avery Binkley, and Walter Tipton

     In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Mary Ellis Thomas and brother Guy Thomas.

Funeral service will be held 1pm Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4pm Monday at the funeral home. Family has requested in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to T.J. Samson Hospice program.

    David , Kevin and families…so sorry to hear of your dad’s passing. A real nice fella…cousin by marriage.. Both of us still testing positive for Covid so I will be unable to be with you. Our prayers are with all of you.
