John Alfred Anderson

John Alfred Anderson, 83, left his worldly home at 8:55 p.m. on May 18, 2023 at Shanti Niketan Hospice Home.  He is the son of the late Howard Paul Anderson and Effie Defevers Anderson.  He was born on October 14, 1939 in Glasgow and was an alumni of Glasgow High School Class of 1957.  John was a life-long resident of Glasgow and a die-hard fan of Glasgow Scotties and Kentucky Wildcats.  He was a member and deacon at Glasgow Baptist Church.

John served in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1960.  After returning home, he did many things until he and his buddy John “Bubby” Yates opened Southern Kentucky Electric Motor Repair that served the community for 29 years.  After semi-retiring from the repair shop, he went to work at Dunlap and Fox Hollow Golf Course.  He fully retired after his wife passed away in 2018.

John is survived by his son John Michael Anderson (Kelly Settle); a nephew James Howard Jennings; a niece Tina Turner; and many other family members and friends.  He is preceded in death by his lovely wife of 54 years Ruth Ann Harlow Anderson; two sisters: Lillian Grace Jennings and Beulah May Turner; one brother, Joe Paul Anderson; and one nephew, Jeff Turner.

Funeral services will be held 12 noon Saturday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.  Military honors will be provided by Glasgow Chapter 20 DAV.  Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday and continue Saturday morning at the funeral home.  Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Glasgow Baptist Church.
