William Claywell

          William R. Claywell, 92, formerly of Nobob, died Wednesday, August 31, 2022 in Buckner, KY.  The Barren County native was the son of the late John and Electa Wade Claywell.

          William was a retired electrician and member of Local 369.  He was a United States Army veteran, a Square Dance Caller, and a member of the Union #2 Baptist Church.  He was a member of Allen Lodge #24 F. & A. M. and Kosair Shrine.  He was a very active participant in activities that raised funds for Kosair Kids and was dedicated in assuring that all funds were for the benefit of “The Kids”.

          Survivors include two children: Deborah Farley, and Michael Claywell and wife Gina all of Buckner; three grandchildren: Karen Bartley, Lindsay Viehmann, and Kyle Claywell; two great-grandchildren: Austin Willis and Allie Jeffries; two great-great-grandchildren: Skylar Willis and Lyla Vickers; several nieces and nephews.

          In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Betty J. Hardin Claywell; one grandson, Kevin Bartley; along with several brothers and sisters.

          Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the Union #2 Cemetery.  Arrangements entrusted to Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.

    So sorry to learn of the passing of William.We would see each other while out & about and would strike up a conversation about Nobob & Holly Hill School history. I always enjoyed talking with him. RIP William.
    I am a grandchild of Bud & Flora Ellen Williamson(parents of Lizzie Clay, Jim Tom, Pearl,
    Oscar & Louis Williamson).
    Thomas Jones introduced me to William when we were trying to identify some people in old
    group pic of Holly Hill School students.
