John L. “Snooter” Jewell, Jr.

          John Leamon “Snooter” Jewell, Jr., 67, Edmonton, died Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at his residence.  A native of Hart County, he was the son of the late John Leamon Jewell, Sr. and Mary Kathleen Karnes Jewell.

          Snooter was a handyman who enjoyed trading; whether it be guns, knives, or whatever.  He greatly enjoyed playing cards and pool and making people happy.  He had been a resident of Shuffett’s Adult Day Care for the past 20 years and had attended Hiseville Christian Church with his sister.

          Survivors include two sisters: Carolyn Matthews of Glasgow and Elaine Harbison (Stanley) of Randolph; one brother C. Dennis Jewell of Hiseville; four nephews: Mark Matthews (Becky), Clint Harbison (Kim), Terry Jewell, and Travis Jewell (Erica); three nieces: Melissa Russell (Mark), Melanie Moon (Casey), and Cynthia Shive (Randall); ten great-nieces and nephews; three great-great nieces and nephews.

          A special thanks to his caregivers: Judy (Ma) Coomer Melissa (Missy) Caffee, Beth Berry, Misty Young, Maggie Scott, Tonya Scott, and Sheila Mattingley, along with a special friend and neighbor Jimmy Eudy.

          Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Hiseville Cemetery.  Visitation will be after 3:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
