To all the family, I would like to express my condolences. Our community has lost one of the best! I’m sure he and Dr. Welborn are having a big time together. I just wanted to tell the family that Doc impacted my life and I will be forever grateful for the opportunities he gave me which lead me to my career in dentistry. He sparked my interest in becoming a dentist from a very early age. I was in the first grade and Jane Ann and I were in the same class. Doc came in one day to give an oral health talk. After that, I decided I wanted to be a dentist and wrote it down every year in my school year memory book. When I was in high school, Dr. Whiteside and Cookie were so gracious to give me a job at the office as Bonnie’s assistant. During that time, I observed everything and became sure that was the kind of environment in which I wanted to work. Doc wrote my letter of recommendation to gain entrance to dental school and allowed me to do my externship at his office. I learned a lot from him by observation and as busy as he was, he took time to impart his wisdom on me. It was over 25 years ago and I still remember his words, “ Treat people right and take your time” So, I owe a lot to him – a great man and dentist who inspired me and gave me my start. I’m sorry for your loss. I’ll be praying for all of you.

Great husband, father and grandfather. Highly skilled dentist, consummate classmate, superb athlete, generous friend, and the very definition of a “ cool “ guy. Never too serious, witty sense of humor, and totally without ego. One of those guys whose company was jealousy guarded by everyone who knew him.
