Martha Pruitt Nelson, 79, passed away at home on March 4, 2022. She was born on November 18, 1942 to the late Elizabeth Pruitt Jackson and Louis Haskell Pruitt. She was a graduate of Glasgow High School, Class of 1960, and attended First Christian Church. Martha was an avid quilter and loved gardening and tending her flowers. She was a very active long time member of Glasgow Garden Club where she served as treasurer for several years.

Martha is survived by her husband of 61 years Joe Nelson, and three daughters: Martha Jean Nelson, Marion Jane Nelson, and Joanna Nelson; one grandson Henry Nelson; two brothers: Bill Pruitt (Mary) and Sidney Pruitt (Patricia); two sisters: Loretta Foster and Linda Thomas; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother Charlie Pruitt, a sister Wanda Levi, and a son-in-law Dave Alexander.

In addition to her family, Martha will be missed by unknown numbers of friends and members of the community whose lives she has touched through her hospitality, kindness, and service.

Cremation was chosen and a memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Glasgow Garden Club, c/o Glenda Eaton, 202 Shangri-La Place, Glasgow, KY 42141, or the First Christian Church, 1100 North Race Street, Glasgow, KY 42141.
