Altha Phyllis Short, 76, of Glasgow, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her family.  She was a daughter of the late Emil G. Thompson and Altha Day Thompson.  She was retired from Eaton Axle, a private care giver and was a member of Grider Memorial Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband: Jesse Wayne Short; two sons: Stacy Birge (Mary), Jason Birge (Mandy); one daughter: Lee Ann Crowe (Pat); one step-son: Troy Short (Myranda); one step-daughter: Revena Rich (David); twelve grandchildren: Ashton Claywell (Robert), Thomas Birge, Shelby Birge, Jack Birge, Josh Hodges (Neelie), Jessica Greer (Cody), Dakota Hodges (Hannah), Keaton Rich, Alexa Rich, Grayson Rich, Brody Rich and Clarence Short; seven great-grandchildren with one on the way; four brothers: Harlie Thompson (Pitsy), EG Thompson (Ann), Norvin Thompson (Kathy) and Tim Thompson (Cindy); three sisters: Romona Robertson (Cecil), Mary Vance (Terry) and Betty Thompson (Donnie); special friend: Karen Brown.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband: Yandel Birge; two brothers: Dave Thompson and Kenneth Thompson; two sisters: Jessie Marie Thompson and Wanda Thompson Jewell.

Funeral will be 1:00 pm Saturday, January 29, 2022 at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 3:00 to 8:00 pm Friday at the funeral home.

    So sorry for your loss.Our heart and prayers are with you and your family.Even though we were neighbors ,We always enjoyed talking with you both.I thought a lot of Phyllis.I remember the first time I met her ,she was walking with some of the women in the neighborhood down Happy Hollow Rd. A very friendly and nice person. She will truly be missed.

    So very sorry for your loss. Phyllis was an amazing lady with a heart of gold. I have many great memories at the Birge home, growing up. She always treated me like family, that’s just who she was. I always admired her selfless nature and caring heart. She will truly be missed. Her memory will live on forever through her family that she loved so very much. Many prayers to LeeAnn, Stacy, Jason and all the family. May God give you strength and comfort.
