Garry Lynn Linscomb

Funeral services for Garry L. Linscomb, 74, will be
held Saturday, August 28, 2021, at 3 o’clock p.m. Visitation will be
from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. on August 27, 2021, and 7 a.m. until time of
service on Saturday, at Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home, 801 N.
Race Street, Glasgow, Kentucky. Interment will follow in the Glasgow
Cemetery, Glasgow Chapter 20 DAV will be providing honors at the cemetery.

Bro. Kenneth O’Connell, Bro. Johnny Cranor and Bro. Mike Hawkins will be officiating the funeral service.

Caskets Bearers will be Jason Gibson, Jamie Gibson, Aaron Laughlin, Weston Hoffman, Spencer Laughlin, Eugene Haskins and Tyler Barron.

Garry was born September 20, 1946, in Lake Charles, Louisiana to
Joseph A. “Jack” Linscomb and Lillie Mae Demerrett Linscomb
Arledge.
After graduating high school in Sulphur, Louisiana, Garry was drafted
into the United States Army and deployed to Vietnam where he
served with the First Air Cavalry from 1966 to 1968.
Garry received several medals for his service including the Vietnam
Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam
Campaign Medal, Sharpshooter, Bronze Star Medal, National Defense
Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Marksman Expert, Air Medal
and of course the Purple Heart.
Garry also worked as a conductor with KCS Railroad from which he
retired after 25 years, gleaning hundreds of train stories he has
shared many times over with any and everyone who would listen.
Known as “Pawpaw”, Garry was a family man to his core. He loved
his wife to a fault, as he did his children, grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
Garry also loved his country with all his heart, which was evident in his
daily wardrobe of flag t-shirts and hats. He was a proud American
Veteran.
But above all, Garry loved God. He was a good and decent Chirstian
man who talked often about how good God was to him and his wife.
Garry is preceded in death by his parents, Jack Linscomb and Lillie
Arledge; step-dad Curtis Arledge; and step-mother Lillian Linscomb.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 28 years Wanda
Baggett Linscomb, of Glasgow; three daughters, Linda Barron of
Hendersonville, Tennessee, Bobbie Sue Cotten of La Vergne,
Tennessee and Virginia “Jenny” Hoffman of Glasgow; two sisters,
Betty Thompson (Jimmy) of Shreveport, Louisiana and Jackie
Hawkins (Mike) of Stonewall, Louisiana; eight grandchildren, Jason
Gibson (Amanda) of Smyrna, Tennessee, Jamie Gibson of DeRidder,
Louisiana, Jennifer Krog (Kenneth) of Lebanon, Tennessee, Tyler
Barron (Whitney) of DeRidder, Louisiana, Karen Haskins (Eugene) of
Paragould, Arkansas, Aaron Laughlin (Alyssa) of Cherokee Village,
Arkansas, Spencer Laughlin of La Verne, Tennessee and Weston
Hoffman of Glasgow; 18 great-grandchildren; and 2
great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
