Josephine H. Poynter

Josephine H. Poynter, 87, Glasgow, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2020 at her residence. A native of Allen County, she was a daughter of the late Orville and Alline Smith Hogue. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include four sisters: Peggy Fuller, Betty Buss, Ann Raj, and Willowdean Evans Fonner; several nieces and nephews, including Gary Peavley, Connie Gordon, Rita Cogar, Bonnie Eubank, Donna Moss, and Sheila Wyatt.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two husbands, John Paul Shockley and Carlos Mitchell Poynter; two sisters: Wanda Peavley and Elizabeth Faye Kingery; one brother, James Hogue.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Crescent Hill Cemetery at Scottsville. Visitation will be after 10 am Friday at the funeral home.

In keeping with the Governor’s recommendations for safety during funeral and memorial services, the number of attendees in the funeral home at any given time will be limited; no food permitted in the lounge; social distancing will be necessary; and face coverings are required.
