Edna C. Garrett

Mrs. Edna Christine Garrett, age 101, of Glasgow, Kentucky passed away Monday morning June 22, 2020 at about 10:45 a.m. at NHC with her daughter by her side. She was born in Barren County to the late William Wesley Brown and Gertrude Thomas Brown. She was the last survivor of 12 siblings. She was saved at Browder’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at an early age.

Mrs. Garrett worked at an airplane factory during the World War II assembling airplane parts. She later opened and operated a restaurant in Louisville, Kentucky before becoming a seamstress. As a seamstress she sewed all her clothes as well as clothes for her daughter. She also sewed for the public to make a little extra money. The last outfit she made for her daughter was about two years ago. She also enjoyed doing crafts and painting as she made several apple head dolls and flowers.

She is survived by one daughter Eva (Lowell) Renick; one grandson, David Dearing and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husbands Floyd Harris Jones, C. B. Adams, and George Garrett; two children: Winford Harris Jones and Lola Catherine Jones; five brothers: Belva, John (J D), William, Eursey (Ed), and Rondal Brown; six sisters: Pearl Burgess, Minnie Baxter, Aline Church, Orene Burgess, Mary Ester Brown, and Gladys Shepherd.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
