Mary Alice Marsh Arterburn, 67, Old Hickory, TN, died November 9, 2019 at home following her battle with endometrial cancer. Born December 17, 1951 in Ashland, KY, daughter of the late Charles Dexter Marsh and the late Gwen Preston Marsh.

Alice was a 1974 graduate of Western Kentucky University, majoring in Music Education, Voice, and Clarinet Performance. During her career, Alice served in the global telecommunications software field for 32 years. In addition to her professional career, Alice supported her husband in ministry for over 40 years by participating and leading children’s choirs, handbell choirs, and serving in worship choirs and orchestras in his ministry. She loved serving the Lord in all kinds of ministries during her lifetime. During her cancer battle, her prayer was to glorify the Lord during every step of her journey. Alice was a member of Hermitage Hills Baptist Church.

In addition to her professional career and her ministry, Alice had a great passion and was heavily involved in using her creative talents with many in the creative craft and arts community.

Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Dan Arterburn of Old Hickory, TN; Daughter and Son in Law, Julia Christine Arterburn Russell and her husband, Dennis, of Raleigh, NC; Sisters, Suzanne Goad (Hutch), Linda Villareal (Dave); Brothers, Basil Marsh (Carla), Donald Marsh (Kathy); Uncle, Ed Preston (Elsie); numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Special thanks to Dr. Louis Johnson and his staff and to Dr. Thomas Numnum and his staff, including chemo nurses Ace and Kricia. Your special care of Alice during her illness meant the world to her and our family.

Funeral services will be held 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 14, 2019, at the Hermitage Hills Baptist Church, Hermitage, TN. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 14, 2019. Graveside service and interment will be held on Friday, November 15th at 2:00 p.m. at the Poplar Log Cemetery in Glasgow, KY.

Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Hermitage Hills Baptist for Mission Trip Support, American Cancer Society, or The CenturyMen, c/o Kim Bowen, 793 Barbara Dr, Talbott, Tennessee 37877.
