  8. Bro. Bob Cooper says:

He was my barber for the 16 years I have currently lived in Glasgow, but he was more than a barber, he was a true friend. He took up with my son when Jacob was 2 years old, using the using the hose off the shears to tickle his neck and he gave him a quarter if he sat still in the chair. We shared stories of growing up (though James was much older than I and grew up in different places, it’s like I’ve known him all my life), fishing, hunting, gardening and also our love for our Savior, Jesus the Christ.
I saw him at the Barber Shop on Monday, he and Larry and as always he was cutting up with those that come in including myself. It was such a shock to hear this – it’s truly hard to believe but I know in my heart he has come to rest with his Lord and Savior. To all James’ family, I am sorry for your loss – your Dad and grand Dad was a very good man and it has been my son Jacob and my honor to have known him.

Where to start, I’ve known James many years, he was my son’s barber from birth to present and then my grandson’s, always a smile on his face, but not only a good barber and friend, because the last eight months he has been a very good friend and confident to my sister Nancy. With both having lost their spouses, God saw that they needed each other to share friendship, eating out together, which James’s loved cause they included me in some of those meals, and going to church, church revivals and signings, they were just good company for each other, laughing and taking life as it come. He will be missed by my family and you know I’ve thanked him for making my sister happy and being her bestest friend. I will see your smiling face again in heaven my brother in Christ!
