Gladys Birge

Gladys Jewell Payne Birge, 93, Glasgow, died Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at Glasgow Health & Rehabilitation Center. A native of Monroe County, she was a daughter of the late B. M. and Nettie Hunt Payne. She was a retired inspector at Ky. Pants Co., and had attended Grider Memorial Baptist Church.

Survivors include two nieces: Stacey Hunt and her husband Steve, and Amanda Coats and her husband Memory all of Glasgow; one sister-in-law: Patty Payne; several great-nieces, great nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Joseph Quentin Birge; four sisters: Hazel Cornwell, Zelma Spradlin, Nora Payne, and Lottie Payne; and two brothers: Richard Payne and Wilson Payne.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the White Cemetery. Friends may call after 5:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
