Carroll Singer Haines, 88, Cave City, died Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. A native of Carroll County, MD, he was a son of the late Walter Turner and Mary Pauline Wantz Haines. He was a retired employee of Baltimore Gas & Electric, a United States Army veteran, and a member of the Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife Mary C. Haines of Cave City; one daughter, Carol Ann DeGroft (Charles) of Cave City; two step-children, Susan L. Maseth (Robert) of Westminster, MD, and Calvin H. Lucy (Kathy) of Littlestown, PA; two grandchildren, Jamie DeGroft (Robin) and Skyler DeGroft all of Cave City; two step-grandchildren, Ashton Maseth and Emily Maseth all of Westminster, MD; one great-grandchild, Riley DeGroft of Cave City; four brothers, Edward Haines of Taneytown, MD, Alton Haines of Cave City, KY, Delano Haines of Grantsville, MD, and Leonard Haines of Columbia Falls, MT; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters: Lois Haines, Mary Magin, Phyllis Wilt, Walter Haines, Jr., Margaret Haines, and George Haines.

Mr. Haines chose cremation. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be from 11 to 2 on Saturday at the funeral home.     We just found out this morning of Uncle Carroll’s passing. So sorry for your loss. Uncle Carroll was and will remain in my heart one of my favorite uncles.
