I had Mr. Richardson as a teacher at Barren Co. High in 1976 & 77 and had the highest respect for him as well as your mother. I had seen her at different occasions at the board of education during my years at school as I had a co-op job that caused us to cross paths. I remember one day when both of them had a dance exhibition in the cafeteria it was a blast! How surprised we were at Mr. Kirby that he had rhythm. Mrs. Richardson was so gracious on the dance floor as she was in life. I will always remember that “show” ! They were wonderful people and all that knew them surely did love them. I am sure there are many stories and cherished moments your family has, cling to those, always remember those times. May God bless your family and grant you peace that passes all understanding during this time.

I first had Kirby when I was a freshman at Temple Hill in 71-72. I too remember in the gym at the end of the year when they danced. I was amazed at how well KC could dance. I was one of your fathers biggest fans as a student and remember how he would talk of you and your mother in class. I met your mother several times and she was always so kind and what I thought to be an eloquent lady. I believe she thought we were crazy when in 1977 I asked Kirby to be my best man. In April of 1977 Kirby stood up for me and this year will be our thirty-fifth anniversary! I am so sorry for your loss and I think of your parents often and every April for sure. They were inspirational in the direction of my life.

  11. Mark Shipley says:

I never knew Mildred, but I knew her husband, Kirby very well. He spoke of Mildred often and that’s I knew of her.
Kirby was a good man and great teacher and I never got the opportunity to let him know much I learned from him and what a great influence he was on me.
I will remember Kirby and how much he loved his wife, how much he loved being a great teacher and exceptional man he was.

    I will never forget.
