Lynn T. Edwards
April 29, 1937 ~ January 1, 2012
Lynn Travis Edwards, 74, Cave City, died suddenly on Sunday, January 01, 2012. A native of Barren County, he was a son of the late Earnest Harvey and Virgie Ruth Kidd Edwards. He was a retired maintenance clerk from Eaton (Dana) Corporation in Glasgow.
Lynn was a devoted member of Big Meadow Missionary Baptist Church from the day he was saved by God’s grace until his death. He was ordained into the ministry on September 30, 1984, and was a pastor for Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church for 19 years and Dripping Springs United Baptist Church for 9 years. Lynn was a caring and a devoted Christian, Pastor, Husband, Dad, Grandpa, and friend, who lived his life as an example to everyone who he came in contact with. God has called him home and he will be missed dearly by his family, church family, and friends, but this is not the end, just the beginning because some day we will meet again in that heavenly home.
Lynn is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ruth Wanda Gooden Edwards; their three children, his son Mark Edwards and wife Bonnie, his daughter Tammy Powell and her husband David, and his son Kerry Edwards and wife Alicia; their six grandchildren, Brad Edwards and his wife, Ashley, Jamie Edwards, Cameron and Christian Powell, Eli and Ethan Edwards; their two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Reid Edwards; and his sister; Joyce Gordon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph Preston Edwards and one sister, Wanda Lois Edwards.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Big Meadow Baptist Church with burial in the Big Meadow Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.
Wanda and family: Our hearts were broken when we heard the news of Bro. Travis’ passing…. we considered him to be a very dear friend that we loved so much. His spot will be vacant at Big Meadow but he will forever hold a special place in our hearts. We are so thankful for the times that he stood and told of being saved at Big Meadow and we know that he has gone on to a better place that he so often talked about. We wanted you all to know that you are in our thoughts and we pray that God will give you the peace as only he can.
Sister Wanda and Family :. We cannot begin to express the sorrow we felt after Bro. Rodney called us to tell about Bro. Travis’ sudden passing. He has been an inspiration to both of us in many ways we can never express. A true man of God and helped me through my own Mother’s passing and Baptized both of us before joining Dripping Springs. I talked with him almost every week and attended numerous Revival’s with him. May god help you through this trying time and have comfort knowing he has a new home…

So very sorry to hear this news of Bro.Travis sudden passing. He was such a sweet and caring person and always had a smile to greet everyone. Please know that you and all of the family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Sister Edwards, We were so saddened to hear of Bro. Lynn’s passing. He will always hold a very dear spot in our heart. His love and concern for the lost were so evident every time he stood. I so appreciate his concern for our son. I know he is in his Heavenly home and with the Lord rejoicing. I know how hard this will be for you and all the family. We are praying for you all, and especially for any lost in your family. We pray the Lord give you comfort and strength, and we pray that he may save any lost there may be in your family, church, and throughout the world. Kerry, even though this separation is only temporary, it still saddens us. But, I know that you’ll take great comfort in knowing that you’ll be reunited one day, as we all will, and we’ll continue our spiritual work here on earth with that assurance. We just want to let you know that we’re thinking about you and your family is in our prayers. I remember him when my dad used to have singings at Mt. Pisgah. He was a good man. Wanda, i really wanted to come in but he was the brother who helped me in school and we had fun as kids growing up playing with our stick horses. No one can take that away from my mind. Will miss him really bad. He was the best!
