Eleanor Thomas Miller Russell, age 93, passed away July 22, 2011. Mrs. Russell was born August 28, 1917, in Glasgow, Kentucky. Her parents were Dr. Thomas Finley Miller and Emma Goff Miller Dougherty. Her father died at an early age, and her mother later married Will G. Dougherty.

Mrs. Russell graduated from Glasgow High School. She attended Transylvania College and Western Kentucky University. In March 1944, she married James B. (Jimmy) Russell.

She lived in Glasgow until age 82, when she and her husband moved to Franklin, Tennessee to be near her daughter. She was predeceased by her loving husband, of 64 years and also her beloved brother, Lawrence “Dusty” Miller. She worked periodically during her life, but spent the majority of her life as a loving and caring mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She loved her hometown of Glasgow, KY and her many friends.

She is survived by her son Judge Thomas B. Russell (Phyllis) of Paducah, KY; daughter Emily Alice Harper of Franklin, TN; grandchildren Thomas Baird Russell of Nashville, TN, John Banister Russell (Katherine) of Memphis, TN, Russell Bratton Williams of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, Sarah Frances Wynn (Jimi) of Nashville, TN; and great-grandchildren Charles Markham Russell and Clark Elizabeth Russell of Memphis, TN. She is also survived by wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time for services at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home, 801 North Race Street, Glasgow, KY.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105; Broadway United Methodist Church KEYS II, 701 Broadway, Paducah, KY 42001; or Glasgow Baptist Church, 401 S. Green St., Glasgow, KY 42141..

When my mom and dad passed away My husband said Carolyn be so thankful you had them as long as you did, his parents were deceased at a n early age.
