Jerry Kerney

Jerry Lee Kerney, 70, Austin, died Monday, January 17, 2011, at his residence. A native of Barren County, he was a son of the late Willie Lee and Delcie Wilcox Kerney. He was a retired floral designer, having worked 32 years at Greer’s Florist, and a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Margie; three sons, David Kerney, Charles Kerney and wife Cherie, and Chris Kerney; 6 grandchildren, Kelsi, Kasi, Brock, Bethany (Christopher) Craft, Emilee and Nicole; one great-grandchild, Hudson; two brothers, Gary (Bonnie) Kerney and Darrell Kerney; two sisters, Patty (J.C.) Lane and Fannie (Gene) Basil; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Terry Kerney and two sisters, Gloria Pitcock and Violet Gillentine.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Beech Grove Cemetery. Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

    So sorry to hear of Jerry’s passing. I am a disant cousin, my grandfather(Dent Davidson) was a brother to Will Kerney, Jerry’s grandfather. I can remember being at Uncle Will’s and Jerry’s family would be there. I am a little younger then Jerry. I have lost concract with all the family over time. We use to visit Pauline and Raymond. So sorry wish I could make it over there.

    I was sorry to hear about your Dad. I remember him when we used to visit in Pritchardsville. Can’t help but think about that Halloween we were throwing water balloons from under the old mill and the car screeched to a halt and Jerry screamed “David Lee, get up here now!” Again, I am sad for your loss.
