Harold David Shipley
September 26, 1940 ~ October 3, 2009
Harold David Shipley, 69, Glasgow, died Saturday, October 3, 2009, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. A son of the late Haskell and Lida Ruth Crabtree Shipley, he was a salesman at Ben & Elmer Tractor Co. He had previously worked at Ideal Hardware for approximately 30 years and attended Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Kaye Crowe Shipley; two sons, Brad Shipley of Glasgow and Brandon Shipley of Louisville; one sister, Dixie Renfro and her husband, Joe, of Glasgow; one half-brother, Ralph Shipley and his wife, Gloria, of Glasgow; several aunts, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Stephanie Lynn Shipley.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2009, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with entombment at Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund.
We extend our deepest sympathy in this time of loss. We have known Harold David for many years and he was always the same whereever and whenever you saw him. He will be missed.

Sorry to hear of Harold David’s passing, I enjoyed working and just having conversations with him. He will be missed.

We express our deepest condolences to Kaye, Brad, Brandon and Dixie in this time of saddness. Pat and I have known Harold David for over sixty years and considered him our dear friend. His passing saddens us greatly. Our prayers are with the family.
I will never forget Harold David’s kindness after the death of my father back in 1969. Harold David stopped by our house every evening after he got off work to ask if we need any thing. He fixed our lawn mower, help me replace the engine in an old GTO, and he wouldn’t accept a dime. Guy’s like him aren’t around anymore. Harold David had a kind heart and to many friends to count. To the boys around Temple Hill, and Glasgow Harold David was considered a local legend. I will miss him, and may God comfort you and the boys.

WE WERE SO SORRY TO HEAR OF HAROLD DAVIDS PASSING. HE WAS AN INSPIRATION TO US,AS HE BATTLED HIS ILLINESS. MAY GOD BLESS AND COMFORT KAY ,THE BOYS AND DIXIE IN THIS SAD TIME..I RODE TO WORK WITH DIXIE YEARS AGO WHEN SHE WAS JUST OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL. So sorry. Harold David will long be remembered for the person he was. His kindness has always been as already expressed by others and was the same in our high school days.
After the death of my parents Harold David was always there to help. He was such a people person and was friends with everyone. Always when in town to visit Ralph and Gloria he came by to see the family. He will be missed by many. A great man. Rest in peace Harold David.
Harold David was loved by all of Temple Hill. When his neighbor’s house caught fire ,Harold went and put it out. Daddy used to cut-up with him and He always had something to say to everyone.There sure needs to be more people like him in this world. I am so sorry to hear of Harold’s passing. I thought a lot of him, he was such a gentle and kind man. He put up such a courageous and valiant fight. I’ve worked at Allstate for 2 1/2 years and had become very fond of him in such a short time. I will miss seeing him and his smile. May God bless you and keep you. Your in my thoughts and prayers.
I am Larry Eaton’s sister. Larry has spoken to me many times about Harold David and how much he thought of him. My prayers are with you during this difficult time.

My words will never be enough to tell you how much I thought of Harold David. My heart is broken. I never had any brothers or sisters, but this man was as close as I could get to a brother. I love him and will miss him so much. I always knew the his concern for me and my family was genuine. He will be often in my thoughts and always in my heart.
