 James Edward Austin, 63, of Austin, passed away February 12, 2009 at the T.J. Samson Community Hospital.  

He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968. He drove a tank and was a SPEC 5.  He was honorably discharged with several medals. He was a member of the Cedar Grove Baptist Church and a resident telephone engineer for CAE in Lexington, Ky. 

          He is survived by his parents, Cleve and Jewell Wood Austin; two sisters, Cathy Delk and husband Larry of Austin and June Lemons of Glasgow; one very special lady, Elizabeth Austin of Glasgow; two sons, Kim Austin of Louisville and John Austin of Glasgow; three grandchildren, Skylar and Shannon Austin-Goodin of Louisville and Christina Thobin of Glasgow; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.  

          He is preceded in death by grandparents Tom and Ersie Lyons Austin and Luther and Ora Wood; one brother-in-law, Floyd Lemons; four uncles, Carlos, Frank, Albert and Willard Wood; one nephew James Anthony Delk.  

          Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 16, 2009 at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home. Burial, with military honors provided by D.A.V. Chapter 20 of Glasgow, will be in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
