Porter Elvin Gooden, Jr., 85, Bon Ayr, died Monday, March 4, 2013, at his residence. A native of Barren County, he was an appliance repairman, a veteran of WW II, and a member of the Big Meadow Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Porter Elvin Gooden, Sr. and Myrtie Freeman Gooden; his step-mother, Maude Gooden; one son, Danny Gooden; one brother, Paul Gooden; one brother-in-law, Rev. Lynn Travis Edwards.

Survivors include his wife Stella Saltsman Gooden; three grandchildren, Danny D. Gooden and his fiancée Sunshine Fannin, Katrina Gooden Hazelwood and her fiancé Jeremy Bradford, and Kendra Gooden Scott; his daughter-in-law, Darlene Gooden; ten great-grandchildren, Lindsay Shipley, Kyle Gooden, Zackary Scott, Brooklyn Ramsey, Mason Gooden, Kalista Hazelwood, Destiny Blevins, Jacob Blevins, Hailey Fannin, and Abbi Gooden; two great-great-grandchildren, Lillian Grace Shipley and Aubrey Sue Gooden; four brothers, Preston Gooden and wife Wilma of Hiseville, Rondell Gooden and wife Donna of Brooks, KY, Denny Gooden and wife Margaret and Charles Gooden and wife Nellie all of Glasgow; three sisters, Zula Tucker and husband Don of Louisville, Sandy Cowan and husband Ronnie of Glasgow, and Wanda Edwards of Cave City; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Big Meadow Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Eaton officiating. Burial with military honors provided by Glasgow Chapter 20 DAV will be in the Big Meadow Cemetery. Visitation begins at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home and will continue Thursday until time for services.
