Maxie H. Hodges, 72, Summer Shade, died Wednesday at the T. J. Community Hospital. A native of Metcalfe County, he was a son of the late John Ora and Lola Mae Birge Hodges.  He was a retired Platoon Sergeant with the United States Army, after 30 years of service, and a veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include two daughters, Deborah L. Howerter or Glasgow and Lisa of South Carolina; six grandchildren, including Michelle Johnson of Glasgow; one great-grandson, Joshua Johnson of Glasgow; two brothers, James H. Hodges of Glasgow and John W. Hodges of Indiana; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the White Cemetery in Monroe County. Glasgow Chapter 20 DAV will provide military honors. Friends may call after 5:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
