Philip Byron Poynter, 51, formerly of Glasgow, died Thursday in Bowling Green. A native of Barren County, he was a son of the late Elmer E. and Cornelia Williams Poynter. He was an automobile salesman, having worked for Gillie Hyde Ford in Glasgow and Greenwood Ford in Bowling Green. He was a member of the Jaycees and an avid sportsman. He had coached Little League for 11 years and was a member of the Coral Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Katherine “Jennie” Poynter; twin daughters, March and Sarah Poynter both of Bowling Green; one brother, Rondel Poynter and his wife, Nancy of Glasgow; one sister, Sandra Spillman and her husband, Tommy of Paducah; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Cave City Cemetery. Friends may call after 12 noon Saturday at the funeral home. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Coral Hill Baptist Church.
