J. C. Hatcher

J.C. Hatcher, 87, Joan Drive, Glasgow, died suddenly Wednesday at his residence. Mr. Hatcher, born September 21, 1913 in the Hiseville Community of Barren County, was the son of Jesse L. Hatcher and Dorothy Cook Hatcher. As a teenager, he helped his father, who was an undertaker in Hiseville until 1929 at which time the family moved to Glasgow. After moving to Glasgow, Mr. Hatcher and his father worked for F. P. Williams Furniture and Undertaker until 1943, at which time they purchased the undertaking business from Mr. Williams and opened the Hatcher Funeral Home. Mr. Hatcher received his funeral director license in 1945. He continued in the funeral business with his parents and his sister, Madeline Hatcher Saddler and her husband, Harry G. Saddler, all of whom have preceded him in death. J.C. served as president of the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home, Inc., he was a member of the Glasgow Baptist Church and the Allen Lodge #24 F. & A.M. He and his wife, Tressie, had just recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on December 23.

Survivors include his wife, Tressie Ree Britt Hatcher; one son, Joseph Carroll Hatcher and his wife, Rosemary of Louisville; three grandsons, Jim Hatcher and his wife, Julie, Bob Hatcher and his wife, Bridget, and Chris Hatcher and his wife, Tamara; five grandchildren, Craig, Rachel, Hannah, Ryan and Haylee.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Friends may call after 5:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
