Wilmer (Bill) Henry Peil—Born in Bloomer, Wisconsin on April 2, 1921, he came to rest in Glasgow, KY on December 24, 2012. He had resided at Highland Ridge Assisted Living until his health weakened and then was cared for at Barren County Healthcare until he expired.
Wilmer graduated from Bloomer High School in 1939 and briefly worked at Waukesha Motors, Waukesha, WI until he entered WW II in 1942. He served over three (3) years in the United States Coast Guard as a First Mechanic aboard ship. After discharge, Wilmer returned to his hometown and began a career in law enforcement. He worked as an officer for the City of Gloomer, Chippewa County, and the State of Wisconsin for close to thirty (30) years. Upon retirement, Wilmer moved to Vero Beach, FL, where he worked as a beekeeper and in security at Piper Airplane Manufacturer for another twenty (20) years. He eventually moved to Glasgow, KY in 2011 to be closer to his son, after the death of his wife in 2010.
Wilmer was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Anna (Kramschuester) Peil; brothers, Herbert and Norman Peil; his wife of over sixty (60) years, Shirley Lois (Molner) Peil; brother-in-law, Edward Aiello and sister-in-law, Betty Jean Peil.
He is survived by his sons, Curtis Molner Peil (Paulette) of Glasgow, KY and William Louis Peil (Cindy) of Dunkirk, MD; grandsons, Erik, John, and Kevin Peil of Maryland and North Carolina; sisters-in-law, Carol Aiello and Betty Peil; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Wilmer will be buried beside his wife in the Halverson Cemetery in Menomonie, Wisconsin later this year. There are no plans at this time for services locally. Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
