Wanda June Hawks

The world became a little less glamorous, and Heaven gained a whole lot more sparkle, on Thursday, August 21, 2025, when Wanda June Hawks, 81, of Glasgow, Kentucky, traded in her earthly shoes for something even more dazzling.

 Born to the late Barton and Anita Malone Plemmons, Wanda lived boldly, and loved deeply. With her hair styled just right, her lipstick perfectly in place, and her adventurous spirit leading the way, she reminded everyone that life was meant to be lived in full color.

 Wanda was retired from American Airlines, but her real “career” was being the heart of her family. To her seven grandchildren, she was simply Grandma — the glamorous, spunky, and spirited woman who could turn an ordinary day into an adventure. She loved fiercely, laughed loudly, and carried herself with the kind of confidence that inspired everyone around her. 

She is survived by her daughter, Terri Lyn Adams (Roy); her son, Terrelton Young; her seven grandchildren, Dustin McClinton (Ronnie), Coby Adams, Travis Adams (Emily), Autumn Rhodes (Jeff), Gavin Hodges (Brandon), Tyler Young (Andrea), and Courtney Lyons (James); ten great-grandchildren; and one brother, Randy Plemmons (Revis).

 She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, John Vernon “Pee Wee” Young.

 Her funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home, with burial in Henderson Cemetery. Visitation will be after 10:00 a.m. Sunday until the time of service.

 Wanda leaves behind a legacy of courage, joy, and unapologetic authenticity. In her honor, let us not weep for what is gone but raise a glass (or a shopping bag) to a life well-lived and a woman well-loved.
