Tim W. Norman, 90, Glasgow, died Monday, February 15, 2016, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. A native of Monroe County, he was a son of the late James Rowland Norman and Lillian Ethridge Norman. He was formerly an ice cream maker at Brown Ice Cream in Glasgow and a retired foreman after 35 years at National Wood Products in Glasgow. He was a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army in WWII; an avid UK fan and golfer, and loved to watch TV; but his greatest pleasure came from being surrounded by his family and taking pride in his yard work. He was also a member of the Glenview Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife Sarah; two daughters: Kathy Blanton and husband Jeff of Austin, and Jenny Lu Shireman and husband Chad of Glasgow; three grandchildren: Benji and Chloe Shireman, and Jessica Page and husband Kyle; two great-grandchildren: Carlee and Emoree Page; one brother: Leroy Yokley and wife Mary Alice of Edmonton; two sisters-in-law: Daphna Ford and Genave Steenbergen of Glasgow; several nieces and nephews including David Pirtle of Glasgow. The family wishes to give a special thanks to Tim’s caregivers: Ariel Wells, Pam Davis, and Marsha Dillingham.
In addition to his parents, Tim was preceded in death by six brothers: Frank Norman, Sam “Buck” Norman, Cordell “Pat” Norman, Hobart Norman, Carvel “Red” Norman, and Jodie Norman; and by three sisters: Verda Yokley, Ora Ella “Punch” Proctor, and Mary Frances Pirtle.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home. Burial with military honors provided by Glasgow Chapter 20 DAV will be in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
