Tom Gantz, 63, of Ellenton, Florida, died unexpectedly Saturday, July 25, 2026.
He was born March 30, 1963, in Alliance, Ohio, to Betty and Duane Gantz. He attended Glasgow and Barren County schools before moving to Ellenton, where he lived for 47 years. He spent his career with Siemens as a transformer construction foreman, rebuilding transformers on job sites all over the country and coming home to Florida when the work was done.
Tom was happiest on the water. He loved a good boat and a day on the river with friends. He was stubborn, quick with a smart remark, and generous in the way that doesn't announce itself — the kind of man who showed up with tools before you finished asking. He wired garages. He hung lights. He was a mechanic down to the bone, and he was meticulous about it.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Duane Gantz, and his sister-in-law, Lee Ann Gantz.
He is survived by his siblings, Linda (John) Payne, Judy (Joe) Downing, Jerry (Carla) Gantz, Mike Gantz, and Jane (Phil) Toms; and by numerous nieces and nephews, David Downing, Danny Downing (Valen), Ellen Downing, Carley (Matt) DeVore, Jennie Samons (David) and special friends Susie and Terry Longpre.
A private service for immediate family will be held, followed by burial at Glasgow Municipal Cemetery in Glasgow, Kentucky, where he will rest near his mother and father.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee.
