Thelma Evelyn Payne Kingrey, 85, of Glasgow, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2026 at Signature Healthcare. She was a daughter of the late John Henry Payne and Dorothy Garnett Jones Payne. She is a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Paul and Thelma pastored in the Church of Nazarene for 43 years. Thelma’s hobbies and favorite things were spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, loved working in her flower gardens, reading westerns by Louis L’Amour, trips to the beach, gardening and canning vegetables, Christmas, storytelling and pranking someone, for 43 years she worked with Children’s programs in the various churches they pastored.
She is survived by her husband: Paul Randall Kingrey, Sr.; four children: Julie Lynn Adkins (Gary), Paula Beth Card (Brad), Paul Randall “Randy” Kingrey, Jr. (Kim) and Christina Brookes Winslow (Daniel); seven grandchildren: Patrick Adkins (Jessica), Joshua Adkins (Cassie), Hannah Davis (Matt), Will Card (Mwende), Andrew Card (Allie), Ariel Burnett and Eva Lynn Winslow; eleven great-grandchildren: Pierson Adkins, Adrienne Adkins, Lilah Adkins, Emerson Davis, Levi Davis, Crew Davis, Zeke Card, Ella Card, Harper Card, Gabriel Burnett and Caroline Burnett; one brother: Ricky Payne (Lucy); two sisters: Hazel Howard and Jeannie Compton (Donald); several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by four brothers: Charles Payne, Donnie Payne, Wallace Payne and Jimmy Payne; two sisters: Peggy Huffman and Linda Foley.
Funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be after 10:00 a.m. Wednesday until time for services. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Willing Workers Sunday School Class for missionary work, Glasgow Cumberland Presbyterian Church 103 Cumberland Street, Glasgow, Kentucky 42141.
