Shirley Cook Walker, 57, Glasgow , died Friday, October 22, 2004 , at the Metcalfe County Nursing Home. Born November 13, 1946 , in Adair County , she was the daughter of Mildrid Scott Givens of Louisville and the late Otis Ray Cook of Morgantown . Mrs. Walker was a member of the Columbia Avenue Church of Christ and the Kentucky Foster Parent Association. She was a former reporter for the Glasgow Republican, where she was well known for her by-line, Spotlighting Country Music.

She is survived by her husband, Cecil “Allen” Walker of Glasgow; two sons, Chris Walker of Scottsville and Greg Walker of Louisville; three brothers, Jimmy Givens and wife, Linda, of Louisville, George Givens and wife, Debbie, of Louisville, Danny Cook of Morgantown; one sister, Sandra Tichenor of Morgantown; an aunt and uncle, Earline Scott and Eddie C. Scott of Glasgow; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by Eddie Burr Scott and Hila Scott, who reared her and one brother, Steven Cook of Morgantown .

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2004, at the Columbia Avenue Church of Christ with burial in the Dutch Creek Cemetery near Burkesville. Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. Sunday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association.
