Shannon Wayne Harwood, 43, Glasgow, died unexpectedly Monday, May 3, 2021 at the University of Louisville Hospital. He was a native of Glasgow; a graduate of Barren County High School; a firefighter with the East Barren Volunteer Fire Department; and a forklift operator at T. Marzetti. He was a former member of the Barren County Dive and Rescue Squad and attended the Cedar Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife Amy L. Rutherford-Harwood; five children: Clayton Harwood (Samantha), Destiny Harwood (Jacob Lemmons), Caleb Harwood, Kolton Harwood, and Nicholas Groce (Kerri Jo Turman); three grandchildren: Jaxon Harwood, Carter Riggs, and Nevaeh Groce; his parents, Steve and Sheryl Harwood; one brother, Scott Harwood (Holly Jaggers); one sister, Staci Sigler (Edwin) all of Glasgow; his maternal grandfather, Earl Jessie of Greensburg; four nieces and nephews: Braylee Harwood, Maxen Harwood, Bentlee Sigler, and Larkyn Harwood; and several extended nieces, nephews, and family members.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Marion and Edith Harwood; his maternal grandmother, Loraine Jessie; and one uncle, Jerry Harwood.
Shannon will be given a firefighters funeral 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 pm Thursday and continue Friday morning at the funeral home. For those unable to attend, the service will be live streamed at www.facebook.com/hatchersaddler.
In keeping with the Governor’s recommendations for safety during funeral and memorial services, the number of attendees in the funeral home at any given time will be limited; no food permitted in the lounge; social distancing will be necessary; and face coverings are recommended.
