Shane Roberts Walton of Three Springs and Glasgow Ky. departed this life on Feb 5th 2026. He now joins his parents Stanley and Betty Roberts Walton and is united for the first time with his sister Robin Gordon Walton.

Shane leaves behind thousands of friends, co-workers and loved ones who will forever celebrate his wonderful life led with joy and gratitude. He is survived by the love of his life and high school sweetheart Lori Sandidge Walton, his daughters Stephanie Gilpin and Allie Walton, his beloved son-in-law Andrew and his precious granddaughter Lilabet Jane Gilpin, his sister Melissa Walton-Shirley, his forever buddy and brother - in-law Tony, his sister-in-law Jan Sandidge, his brother-in -law Don Sandidge (Francis). He is beloved by his nieces Kate Shirley Seeley (John) and Aaron Shirley Gregory (Joe) and a host of cousins and extended family.

Ever the doting husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend and brother-in- law, he freely poured his humor, love and light into the world. Breaking out the “box of adjectives” (he light-heartedly bemoaned in his sister’s writings), he was the consummate Renaissance man.

Raised on Walton’s Lowlands in northern Metcalfe County, Ky., he fell in love with fishing in a small pond behind the family dairy barn and also at Lile’s lake. He carried his love for fishing and hunting annually to Cedar Lake in Perrault Falls in NW Ontario Canada, traveling at first at age 14 with Ed Clark, Byron Jeffries and Carl Nunn Jr. then later with Tim England and his “core four” group that included John Scott, Greg Moore and Scott Gillon. Lori, his girls and Andrew often traveled with him enjoying blue berry picking, shore lunches and family time.

Innovative and intrigued with invention as a young boy, he configured massive constructs of Hot Wheels race tracks and stunt loops that stretched throughout his two-story farm house home. Like his father Stanley, he never met a mechanical entity he could not understand or fix. He captured his love of the great outdoors through photography, a skill honed by a class he and Melissa took with Stan and Nola Jones. He dove headlong into live edge wood working producing beautiful pieces that adorn local homes. He was the consummate chef having built his own smoker and outdoor kitchen consisting of two “Green eggs”. Many in South Central Kentucky have enjoyed his smoked brisket, Boston Butt and turkey. Most were given to his clients as a token of his deep appreciation.

His first-born daughter Stephanie inherited her parents’ love of scratch culinary cooking, inspired early on by their prowess in the kitchen. All will miss his standing rib roast and Christmas crème brûlée he adorned with his special blow torch artistry.

Shane looked forward to watching Jeopardy with his daughter Allie and never missed an opportunity to brag about how many clues she had answered correctly. One night, Lori was amazed that he knew ALL of the answers. Little did she know he had watched that episode earlier then played it again, pretending it was live.

Because Shane proudly wore the whole armor of God and put on Christ through baptism at the Church Of Christ on South Green Street in Glasgow, his business transactions were conducted with integrity and were above reproach. He was a titan of the real estate industry having recently surpassed the $100 million mark for lifetime productivity with REMAX Highland Realty & Auction. He loved and appreciated his co-workers there, especially Todd Fisher his broker. He partnered with Ken Byrd Auctions on many projects, always with amiable collaboration and a ready “cast of characters” for entertainment. He treasured his years-long friendships with his former coworkers at RR Donnelley corporation. He was a founding member of the local BNI chapter and helped encourage the success of many a local business. He was an avid supporter of the National Cystic Fibrosis foundation, participating in national wide efforts that produced effective treatments that prolonged life and created parents and grandparents.

Shane had a life-long appreciation of music, especially for the rock band “Kiss”, to the extreme. It was an obsession, at first tolerated but then celebrated by those he “strongly encouraged” to accompany him to their concerts. More recently he enjoyed the music of Ray Wiley Hubbard, an appreciation he shared with his son-in-law Andrew, a talented drummer. He was ever present at his daughter Allie’s music performances of whom he was enormously proud.

His latest roll of “Pops” to Lilabet Jane brought a pervasive smile any time he was in her presence. There is no human who embraced grandfather-hood with more enthusiasm. Without a doubt Shane Walton will live on through her quick wit and joyous personality.

Shane loved sports, cheering on his UK Wildcats from his front row seat in the theater room he constructed. He introduced his brother-in-law Tony to golf, enjoying many an outing with Steve Higginbotham and the late Al Welch. He was also an eagle-eyed archer.

No one loved a good joke better than Shane and no one had a larger or more varied collection at their immediate disposal. His quick wit and mischievous antics culminated in pranks that he pulled off with precision. He once stood outside a large picture window with a spare TV remote just to baffle his parents by flipping channels and manipulating the volume. He played elaborate tricks on his Donnelly friends, real estate colleagues, and fishing and hunting buddies. His pranks never failed to land precisely. His re-telling of those antics would always slay a crowd.

Shane was named by his beloved family physician Dr Keene Hill. Four days after he was born, his parents were still at a loss as to what to call him. Dr. Hill, a bit exasperated had just seen a movie with an unusual first name as the title character. Little would he know how fitting his name would be. The billing for that cinematic success would forecast the perfect conclusion of a life well lived. Indeed, “There will never be another Shane”.

Funeral arrangements will be under the direction of Hatcher and Saddler funeral home in Glasgow, Ky. Visitation will begin on Monday February 9th from 4 -8 pm and continue on Tuesday morning February 10th until the celebration of life at 2 pm.
