Listen to Obituary

Sandra Gail Wooten Claywell, Christian, Wife, Mother, and Friend went to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday July 17, 2026, at her home after a brief illness. Sandie was born May 18, 1955, at Ft. Knox, KY. She was the daughter of the late Joe and Shirley Montgomery and Herbert Wooten. She married Marvin Claywell on July 22, 1989, and had one daughter, Mollie Nichols (Andrew). She is also survived by 2 brothers and 3 aunts, Hazel Mae Duvall, Barbara Wooten and Reba Payne, all of Huntsville, AL.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Jo Ann Montgomery and an aunt, Brenda Fitzgerald, and Cousins Penny Huffman and Cathy Pence.

Sandie loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was a faithful servant. She loved spending time with her daughter talking about movies, musicals and tv shows. She loved her family history and researching her ancestors and would gladly help you research your family. She also loved educating children and was in contact with many of the students she interacted with during her education career. Her love of all things H.M.S. Titanic led to many students coming up to her years later asking, “Are you the Titanic Lady?”, which she loved.

Sandie spent her retirement years working at the South Central Kentucky Cultural Center. She enjoyed greeting people from all over the world and helping people do research on their family tree. She had a passion for photography and talking about her time growing up on the “Glasgow Square” during its heyday.

At Sandie’s request, a graveside service will be conducted beginning at 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 AM. Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Mary Bridges Jones Genealogy Library at the South Central Kentucky Cultural Center.
