Mrs. Sadie Jewell Jackman, 85, Glasgow, passed away Friday, June 12, 2015, at Brighton Garden in Greensboro, NC. A native of Barren County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Euna Houchens Davis, and the widow of the late Roger G. Jackman. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and daughter, and a gifted teacher. She began her teaching career of 35 years at Merry Oaks, a one room school, and completed it as a 5 th grade teacher at E. B. Terry Elementary in Glasgow. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, and a long-time member and former Sunday School Teacher of the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter: Beth Jackman Holland and her husband, Dr. Richard Holland of Greensboro, NC; two grandchildren: Adrienne Holland and Jack Holland; three sisters: Dorothy Glass and husband John, Grace Roby, and Virginia Wells and husband James; along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters: Mattie Matthews, Ida Humphrey Smith, Levie Kinslow, and Bertha Davis; and one brother: Samuel D. Davis.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
