Roy Lee Perkins

Roy Lee Perkins, born May 31, 1938, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 1, 2026.

Roy is survived by his children: Jackie Perkins (Sherri), Jeff Perkins, Ellen Adwell, and Jonathan Perkins; daughter-in-law, Karol Perkins; his sister, Loretta Reynolds; ten grandchildren: Becky Thompson (Drew), Rachel Rodriguez (Andy), Emily Perkins, T.J. Perkins (Gladys), Jody Hancock (Alex), Katie Perkins, Patrick Perkins, Dalton Adwell, Wyatt Adwell, and Jessica Dennison (Logan); twenty great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by Margaret Perkins, the mother of his children; his son, Thomas Perkins Sr. ; his father, Otha D Perkins; his mother, Elizabeth Carver Perkins; three brothers, Jerry, Thomas, and Eugene Perkins; and seven sisters, Mary Aline Perkins, Pernie Burgess, Evelyn Glass, Maxine Glass, Bonnie Morgan, Lois Bunch, and Nancy Croft.

Roy spent many years farming and plowing telephone cable, working faithfully with his hands. He had a deep love for gardening and took great pride in caring for his yard and flowers. If you stopped by, you would likely find him tending to his plants, watching a good western, or picking on his guitar while listening to his favorite musician, Chet Atkins.

Known for telling stories to anyone who would listen, Roy never met a stranger. His love of music, and simple joys of country living defined the man he was.

Roy was a faithful member of the Coral Hill Church of Christ.

The funeral service will be Friday, March 6 at 1:00 p.m. at the Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home, with burial in the Baldock-Shirley Cemetery in Summer Shade, KY. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and Friday morning until time for the service at the funeral home.
