Romey Jewell Houchens, 78, Glasgow, died Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at his residence. A native of Metcalfe County, he was the son of the late Willie Day Houchens and Mattie Vernon Poynter Houchens. He was a retired logger and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his long time partner Brenda; eight children: Ronnie Houchens, Sherry Mauk, Robin Holland, Tracey Houchens, Shannon Pienaar, Adam Houchens, Crystal Houchens, and Danielle Emmit-Hall; two brothers: Richard Houchens and Willie Dale Houchens; one sister, Janice Furlong; 15 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Kathy Lewis.
Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Saturday and continue Sunday morning at the funeral home.
