Robert Edward Davidson, age 87, of Glasgow died peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family and caregivers at his home on Tuesday, May 18, 2021. He was a son of the late William Crawford and Nancy McCandless Davidson (Webb).
He was a devout Christian and member of Gethsemane Baptist Church in Glasgow which is pastored by his son, Bro. Paul Davidson. He retired from Barren County Vocational School after 20 years of service as a custodian,. He then served as custodian of FRECC for several years. He was a U. S. Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife of almost 64 years, Shirley Ann Wheeler Davidson of Glasgow: one daughter, Deborah (Debbie) Davidson Lessenberry and husband Lawrence of Edmonton: two sons, Gary Wayne Davidson and Paul Allen Davidson and wife Marla, all of Glasgow. seven grandchildren: Billy and David (Diane) Lessenberry of Edmonton, Chrissie Lessenberry Bell (Billy) of Harrison, Arkansas, Brittany Davidson Gibbons (Brandon) of Glasgow, Brad Davidson (Leslie) of Smiths Grove, Brandi Davidson Elmore (Jeremy) of Scottsville and Jessica Jessie Moss (Jessie) of Glasgow: 13 great- grandchildren: and a special niece Barbara Jo Houchens and husband Donald and 2 devoted pets, Nacho and Nosie.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Helen Davidson Taylor Brownfield: two brothers: Leonard Carl and William Earl Davidson as well as an infant brother and sister.
Funeral will be 1:00 pm Friday, May 21, 2021 at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the New Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
In keeping with the Governor’s recommendations for safety during funeral and memorial services, the number of attendees in the funeral home at any given time will be limited; no food permitted in the lounge; social distancing will be necessary; and face coverings are recommended.
