Philip McCandless, 75, Glasgow , died Monday, January 12, 2004 , at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital . A son of the late Bill and Ora Lee Douglas McCandless, he was a retired farmer and a member of the Glasgow Baptist Church .

Survivors include five children, Vickie (Elliott) Doyle of Worthington, OH, Teresa (Don) Wyatt of Glasgow, Beverly McCandless of Staunton, VA, Kerry McCandless of Ekron, KY and Diane McCandless of Munfordville; eight grandchildren, John (Janelle) Doyle of Oneida, IL, Philip Doyle of Delaware, OH, Tara Davis of Glasgow, David Wyatt of Louisville, Harper Holsinger and Hannah Holsinger of Weyer’s Cave, VA, Chris McCandless of Munfordville and Jesslyn McCandless of Ekron; one great-grandchild, Lexie Davis; two brothers, Bobby McCandless of Knob Lick and Wallace McCandless of Tompkinsville; two sisters, Carolyn Young of Knob Lick and Mary Katherine Irwin of Edmonton; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Ferguson McCandless; a brother, James McCandless and a sister, Bonnie Atwell.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 15, 2004, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Kentucky Homemakers Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, which was started by his late wife, Virginia Ferguson McCandless. Send contributions in care of Barren County Homemakers, 1463 W. Main St. , Glasgow , KY 42141 .
