Owens E. “Poppie” Allen, 89, Bowling Green , formerly of Landrum Street , Glasgow , died Monday, June 28, 2004 , in Bowling Green . A native of Park City , he was a son of the late Ed and Louvinia Parrish Allen. He was a retired truck driver for Walbert Trucking and a member of the Zion Hill Baptist Church .
Survivors include one daughter, Kathy Sublett Payne (Elmer) of Bowling Green ; one step-son, Glen Victor of Louisville ; six grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Mae Smiley Allen ; one step-son, McKinley Victor; two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 2, 2004, at the First Baptist Church of Glasgow with burial in the Oddfellow Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11-3 and 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home and after 11:00 a.m. Friday at the church.
