Oberia “Bittie” Sherfey, 88, Glasgow, died Sunday, January 09, 2011, at her daughter’s residence. A native of Barren County, she was a daughter of the late Everett and Lillian Emmitt Wood. She was a former employee of Sorensen’s, a homemaker, and a member of the Poplar Springs Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Nancy Mathews (Kelly); two sons, Marty Sherfey (Geraldine) and Timmy Sherfey (Shelby); 7 grandchildren, Ricky Sherfey, Rodney Sherfey (Angela), Chris Sherfey (Gina), Alysia Wheeler (Anthony), Steve Mathews (Susan), Tonya Wade (Jesse) and Kyle Sherfey (Nikki); 8 great-grandchildren, Derek Sherfey (Hope), Corey Sherfey, Dustin, Justin and Hunter Sherfey, Riley Mathews, Khole Cross Draylan Sherfey and Lancyn Wheeler; four sisters, Opal Logsdon, Flora Mae James, Donna Barrick and Geraldine Perkins; one brother, Hollis Wood; special caregiver, Sandra Mathews; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Haskel Sherfey; one son, Danny Sherfey; one brother, Frank Wood; one sister, Wallace Pickett.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
