Maynard Marvin Stonerock, 86, Glasgow, died Wednesday, March 12, 2008, at his residence.  A native of Atlanta, (Dayton) Ohio, he was a son of the late Harry and Addie Sines Stonerock.  He was a veteran of WW II, having served with the United States Army as a Sergeant in the 83 rd Infantry Division and with the 82 nd Airborne.  He served in the African, European and Middle Eastern Campaigns.  He participated in the D-Day invasion and the Battle of the Bulge.  He was the recipient of the Purple Heart with 2 clusters, 3 bronze stars and the Silver Star.  He was an active member of the Glasgow Scottie Band Parents from 1963-1970; he was a retired Captain with the Glasgow Auxiliary Police Force from 1965-1986; he was an active leader in the Glasgow Little League Program; and he was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church.  He was the former plant manager of the JO Frank company and a retired employee with Garrett Construction Co. of Glasgow.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Stonerock; one daughter, Linda Reilley and husband, Kevin, of Vernon Hills, IL; one son, Chris Stonerock and wife, Cheryle, of Glasgow; eight grandchildren, David (Jennifer) Harris of Palmdale, CA, Stephanie (Jason) Jarvis of Zion, IL, Kerry (T. Paul) Banz of Charlotte, NC, Brittany Stonerock of Lebanon, KY, Kristen (Wade) Copas, Matthew Stonerock, Kessley Stonerock and Andrea Buford all of Glasgow; eight great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Steve Stonerock ; five brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 16, 2008, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with cremation to follow.  Military honors will be provided by the Glasgow Chapter 20 DAV.  Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.  Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Glasgow Chapter 20 DAV.
